Arts Out West Micro Grant

Bathurst Seymour Centre was successful in gaining a grant from Arts Out West Micro Grant and we have used this funding to work with a local photographer who is very talented and who has won a number of prizes for his work. This enabled the artist, Bill Deeley, to share skills with our target group (mentioned above) who are isolated due to the current COVID-19 pandemic.

We have been able to provide digital footage with the support of Kevin, who volunteered to assist with this project. The which covers useful information about how to take good photographs. This includes: Introduction, Landscape and portrait photographs, close up photographs, cameras, camera modes, camera sensors, focusing, lighting, composition, software processing. This information is also available in printed format, just contact Bathurst Seymour Centre and we will organise to get it to you.

Benefits include the ability for aspiring photographers to learn to take ‘good’ photos during this time of isolation. This is an extremely worthwhile activity which will bring a lot of joy to people who are currently isolated and we sincerely thank Arts OutWest for their support. We plan to hold a small exhibition of some of the photographs taken by participants towards to end of 2020 to recognise the skills of participants and to give them something to look forward to.
